The Discerning Pizza Palate (Sat 24)

We woke up to some modest overnight snow and headed out to a Food Tour. Lots of interesting food although group was bit big. Six stops where we ate real Mexican, real pizza, funky sandwiches and hot dog/knish for mains. Then a 90year old Greek place and the Little Pie Shop for sweets.  We later returned to the pizza place which had a copy of an article about a guy who ate and rated all the 352 pizza joints on Manhattan - he loved this one of course - although he threw up after two others. We particularly enjoyed meeting a Dutch couple who run a camping ground that takes 9000 people and runs for 7months a year - they live at 8m below sea level. Also an Aussie trainee doctor. 

While on food, there is a lot of awful coffee here and Michael has thrown out whole cups. Perversely Starbucks has become the saviour. They have added flat whites (attributed to Aust/NZ) and as long as you order the "short" size which is smaller than the three normal sizes on the menu - you get what Michael and many others like in Aust.

Then on to Empire State Building with endless queues. Fortunately they were all empty as it was winter but it took a long time to walk them. View was ok but a bit cloudy. However it did actually snow and girls were excited to find snowflakes really look like the pictures and played with the macro camera lenses outside.

A bit of shopping and then at the Metroplitan Museum of Art which is open till 9pm on Saturdays (shops are 11pm). Went to mourning fashion exhibition, saw some cool American art, modern art section and Renaissance art.
