One moat, massive entry gates, ornate carvings in every direction, big waterfountain installations, large gardens, a village to house serfs and craftsmen inside fortress wall ... all duly noted. It has been confirmed after much consultation that the Quakers Hill Fortress shall be based on Alhambra. We shall of course begin on a smaller scale with just one inner palace whilst ensuring there is room for more over the coming centuries (like Alhambre). Alhambre is so popular that there is timed entry - after a last minute issue with the needlessly complicated ticket validation process we enjoyed the Nazaries Palace and Generalife sections followed by a couple of museums - and this was only part of the hilltop complex!
Even more amazing, Fiona came upon a close schoolfriend, Emily Couetze, in the middle of the tour. They were both dumbfounded and met up for dinner tonight - Emily is here for a Spanish language intensive over January.
Massive lunchtime tapas success for the three hombres (pictured) with 10 tapas for 10 euros ... and very nice ones too. Tortilla the best so far. Different folks then did different things. Michael and the girls watching an amazing guitar player busker - he put the guitar on his lap and managed to do percussion as well as atmospheric music. We now have his CD.
