Rolling in Ronda (Wed 7)

Our resting place in Ronda is strategically situated in the centre of town, above a patisserie, in the midst of clothing shops and across from the local logopedia (speech therapy). What more could you want? What about another bike ride?

This ride is guided by an English couple, Wayne and Heather and included their friend Gerry. We headed off through the olive groves mostly riding on farm roads in beautiful sunshine before arriving at the cave town of Setinel. The town here runs along a narrow gorge with many of the buildings set into the sandstone. Gerry, who is a geophysicist didn't completely put our minds at rest as to the strength of the rock overhang where we sat for lunch.....The girls were much happier with this ride lots of downhill but I don't think we're completely forgiven yet. Michael, on the other hand hadn't had nearly enough exercise on our three hour ride so chose to accompany the two blokes back up several hills/mountains for another 3 hours in reverse direction (65km in all) while us girls were driven back Ronda in the van for more shopping to soothe the frayed nerves of the bike riding girls. The picture below shows the end point of the ride with the bar chiselled into space under the cliffs - we are bottom right eating tapas like garlic potatoes with cafe con leche.

Everyone was hankering for some Asian for dinner. We managed to find a packet of tikka masala to make our own curry for dinner. It went down a treat.
