Moderate Winter Storm Juno (Tue 27)

It doesn't have the same ring as Blizzard Juno. About 10inches of snow - not the record breaking 24-36inches the media wanted. Head forecaster tweeted an apology in the wee hours - which we missed. Some debate as to whether the subways should have been closed - this was the first time they had been stopped for a "blizzard". Outcome: we could walk around NY and jaywalk the main avenues because a lot wasn't open and the city that never sleeps seemed pretty drowsy. Great for piccies as many say NY is at its prettiest in the snow.

World Trade Centre memorial with names of all those who dies around the outside - including Pentagon, emergency workers, flight passengers.

Tonight we see Les Miz and we all - but especially Fiona - were relieved to hear it is still on and the lead Ramin Karimiloo is singing.

    Very pleased the head forecaster got it wrong! Great experience and great pictures anyway -- good to see one of the parents. No doubt you will enjoy "Les Mis". Hope the planes will soon fly again! Enjoy Denver, Fiona. Haven't had any snow here but we have had plenty of rain in the last couple of days. The Socceroos won last night [2-nil] and play in the Final on Sat. Hope you will be home to see it! K lost in straight sets to Murray.
